  At age 56 I was diagnosed with mitral valve-severe regurgitation, and and in a matter of a weeks went to the Cleveland Clinic for surgery. Fortunately I was referred to Dr. Stephanie Mick, and I cannot thank her enough for the outstanding medical care I received before, during and after my surgery. I quickly learned that her care and consideration for her patients extended beyond the surgery suite. For instance, I was scheduled to meet with her the day prior to the surgery and had other medical appointments scheduled prior to our meeting. I fininshed the other appointments earlier than expected, and evidently she was informed then made time in her busy schedule to meet with me earlier in the day so I didn't have to wait. I was not a candidate for the robotic procedure and had the traditional surgery which was successful. I also appreciated Dr. Mick following up with me while I was in the hospital and directing my care. She is an excellent surgeon who listens carefully to her patients. I feel better now than I have felt in years and have her to thank. The fact that the Cleveland Clinic has been rated as the best heart hospital in the nation for over 20 years is not an accident but a by-product of consistently delivering excellent care, and Dr. Mick is an outstanding example and embodiment of what the Cleveland Clinic has to offer.
